Being a student and a teacher I spend a good amount of time at my desk during the week doing assignments and figuring out projects for my kids to do at work. You could say I spend a lot of time at my desk during the thick of the school year. And what is on my desk top and how it looks plays a huge roll in how much time I spend at it and how much work I really get done.
I personally like for my desk top to stay organized but I like to have things on it for easy access to pens, pencils, etc. The way my desk is built makes it slightly difficult to have things how I would really like on a desk top but I have found ways to allow me to have what I want on it and still keep it organized and clutter free.
My desk itself is from Sauder and it is their Harbor View Craft Armoire, it used to be in my grandparents house but when they moved I received it. ( I will be doing a post on the whole desk itself soon)

On the small desk top I have my laptop, a desk light with compartments to pens, markers, highlighters, etc. I also have a three slot file holder, a small bucket with dry erase markers, and a picture frame and a small candle (which I never light).
Since the desk top is so small I use the insides of the doors to hold things as well, I have on one side photos of family and on the other I have a small calendar and a list of work meetings, along with workouts that I am currently doing.
When I pull out the desk to use it this is what it normally looks like. With my computer pulled out and my planner next to it
I love having a desk that I can fold up and put away at the end of the day, a great way to say the work days is over now relax but I am not going to lie it would be nice to have desk where I can make the desk top how I truly want it but I do love this desk.
