Tip of the day: How to somewhat declutter your home in 5-10 minutes

Have you ever wonder how some people who work long crazy hours can keep their house so picked up and clean?  Well trust me I have and I have come up with two answers, one they are probably never home long enough in the day to make a mess or they have little cleaning elves that come out at night and clean? Okay yes last one is not possible, but I did hear something once that I started recently doing and has worked wonders to try and keep my home somewhat free of major clutter.

And that tip is....pick a room and for 5-10 minutes a day pick up all the stuff that does not belong in it and put it where it belongs.

This could mean designating a room each day depending on how many rooms are in your house that need this done and taking the time, or doing 5-10 minutes in your whole house each day.

If more than one room is pretty bad I like to just do one room at a time instead of trying to do four at once. I have a system that I found works the best for me just so I don't get overwhelmed with it all and say screw it and walk away.

Step 1: Look around the room and see in general how much of the stuff stays in this room and how much as to leave.

Step 2: Start at the first cluttered spot I see weather its a table right when you walk in to the area or a basket at the far end.

Step 3: Make piles of where stuff has to go, weather its the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, closet, etc. I like to make my piles either on a table or on the floor.

Step 4: Put away everything that belongs in the room where it belongs.

Step 5: Put away the piles of stuff and I mean really put away don't add it to another rooms clutter. (Look past the clutter in a room you might be putting things away in and remember that room can wait tell tomorrow)

Step 6: Step back and enjoy the cleaner room you just did in no time at all.

Let me know what your favorite organizing tip is below!
